Method We used biomechanical methods in controlling strain of anterior tibial muscles of rabbits .Objective To observe the histological and enzymohistochemical change after sprain.Result Experimental model of muscle sprain could be made with yield load which was about 128% of the body weight extracting anterior tibial muscle of the rabbits. Some of the muscle fibers broke near the junction between muscle and the tendon. Conclusion Fibrosis of endomysium and scar formation at the injury might be an important cause of frequent recurrence of muscle sprain.

Abstract The present sutdy was designed to assess whether changes in glycolipids and cyclic AMP contents might serve as markers for the diagnosis of malignancy in the liver. The experimental model was a transplantable murine hepatoma. Experimental mice were divided into three groups:(1) a therapeutic group. which had been transplanted with hepatoma and treated with the antimetabolism drug 5-flurouracil(0.2mg/day i.p).(2) a control group, which had been transplanted with hepatoma and treated with 0.2ml 0.9% NaCl day and (3) a normal group of mice . The ganglioside and cAMP contents in the hepatoma tissue, plasma cAMP, total and lipid-bound sialic acid levels and red blood cell memebrane sialic acid levels were determined. Results showed that the ganglioside content, total and lipid-bound sialic acid levels in the control group were significantly higher than those in the livers of normal mice(P<0.01) while these respective values in the therapeutic group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).The cAMP levels of tumor tissues and plasma in the control group were lower than those in normal mice. No significant difference in red blood cell membrane sialic acid content was observed between the therapeutic and control groups though levels for both were higher than those in normal mice. These results indicate that ganglioside ocntent and sialic acid levels in hepatoma tissues were significantly elevated, and cAMP levels in hepatoma tissues were significantly decreased during proliferation and abnormal differentiation.Key words transplantable hepatoma, gangliosides , sialic acid, cyclic adenosine mono-phosphate, 5-flurouracil摘自Molecular and cellular biochemistry, 2000; Vol 207,29~33该杂志摘要被美国科学引证索引(SCI)收录

Objective Hypoglycemic Ziyabiti Tablets (HZT) is a traditional multicomponent treatment for diabetes in Xinjiang Uyghur Traditional Medicine. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of HZT in diabetic rats and its activity in cultured liver cells to investigate the relative mechanisms. Methods 10 days high-fat diet fed rats were intraperitoneally injected with alloxan (ALX) at next two subsequent days to induce diabetes mellitus (DM).Then were divided into 5 groups:saline, positive DM control and DM groups treated with different doses of HZT.Fasting blood glucose (FBG),total cholesterol (TC),total triglycerides (TG),high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C),fasting insulin (FI),insulin secretion (IS) and insulin sensitivity index (ISI) were measured. The IC50 of HZT in L-02 cells was determined by MTT assay,in intact and in paracetamol-induced liver injury (Par),on lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity and on glucose consumption. Results HZT decreased FBG and TC (P <0.05),increased IS (P <0.05) and at 440 mg · kg-1 · d-1 increased FI (P < 0.01).In vitro,HZT at 0.1,0.2,and 0.4 mg/mL decreased LDH activity and promoted glucose consumption. Conclusion The hypoglycemic mechanism of HZT is possibly related to increased insulin secretion from the pancreas and increased utilization of glucose by the liver.

Objective: To observe pressure changes in the spinal canal of the vertebrarium subjected to impact. From the point of view of impact, pressure changes and spinal cord injuries, the relationship between the type of spinal fracture and the severity of spinal cord injuries were analyzed and some experimental data were provided for early evaluation of severity of spinal cord injuries. Methods: An experimental model of spinal burst fracture was made with Type BIM-I bio-impact machine and techniques of high velocity vertical loading in static pattern and stress shielding were adopted. Vertebral sections T10-L4 taken from fresh cadavers were impacted and pressure changes in the spinal canal were observed. The types and severity of spinal fracture were studied with gross and radiography examination. Results: Great positive pressure wave (wave A) in the spinal canal of the 4 vertebral specimens with burst fracture was recorded. The peak value of pressure was correlated with the severity of posterior column injuries. Generally, the peak value of pressure was low in the samples with posterior column injuries, but high in the samples without injuries. The predominant features of fractures were burst fractures of vertebral body and severe destruction of the skeletal and fiber structure of the spinal canal. Positive and negative pressure waves (wave B) were recorded in 2 vertebral samples in which no significant abnormal changes were found by radiography examination, however, a little liquid effusion in the vertebral body was found by gross examination. Conclusions: The type of pressure wave in the spinal canal is related to the deformation or the destruction of the spinal canal structure. The peak value of the pressure is non-linearly related to the obstruction in the spinal canal, but related to posterior column injuries.
