Interactions of Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Beta-Receptors with Actin Filaments: Role of Focal Adhesion Kinase
Platelet-derived growth factor beta - receptors ( PDGF beta - R) undergo directed movements in living cells, a process mediating cell migration. Motile actin filaments possibly contribute to such movements. We investigate here the interaction of PDGF beta - R with actin filaments, and a possible role for focal adhesion kinase (FAK) , an actin - associated protein, in the regulation of such a process by magnetic manipulations of the PDGF beta - R and genetic modulations of the FAK gene in cultured mouse embryonic fibroblasts.
